This year’s Cinematique! Film Festival showcased 26 films by emerging young talent at the Roxy Bar & Screen, where we ran a prize for the best non-fiction and experimental film.

Two film-makers caught our attention for their creative treatment of everyday reality, and so we decided to award a prize to both of them.

Walking Portraits: Performing Asphalts by Bill Psarras creates exciting visuals from a performative walk around five London tube stations.

Peculiar Circumstance by Fan Hong pays attention to everyday street scenes and crossing the road, resulting in a humorous reassessment of the banal.
